Located adjacent to lake Storsjön (the Great Lake) on the island of Frösön with a spectacular mountain view, you will find HÄRKE KONSTCENTRUM (Härke Art Centre). It is a four-story building containing 15 artist studios of varying sizes, a 300 square meter large open access studio equipped for printmaking, an art exhibit hall and a guest apartment. The artists who are members in the association with the same name manage the activities in the building.
ARTIST IN RESIDENCE AWARD
Annually, professional artists living outside the county of Jämtland are eligible to apply for the Härke Art Centre Artist in Residence Award. The chosen applicant receives a sum of money (presently 30.000 SEK) and a one-month stay in the guest apartment with access to the printmaking studio. Additionally, a solo exhibit at Ahlbergshallen Art Hall in central Östersund, to be executed within two years from the date of the award.

ÖSTERSUND OPEN ACCESS PRINTMAKING STUDIO
Our studio is well equipped for serigraphy, intaglio, digital and relief printmaking, with emphasis on working with non-toxic methods and materials. There are presently about 80 members. To apply for membership send 3 original prints, a resume and personal contact information to:

ARTIST STUDIO ASSOCIATION
On the top three floors of the building are studios of varying sizes rented by artists and artisans. If interested in available space, contact the chairperson of the association to ateljeforeningen(a)harkekonstcentrum.se.
Members in the association manage the guest apartment and curate shows. Activities such as exhibits, courses/workshops and open-house events, are often arranged by members as a group.

Art by Accident – exhibition at Härke Art Center and painting by Bodil Halvarson
Art Exhibits are curated in two locations: Ahlbergshallen and Härke Art Centre. Ahlbergshallen, in central Östersund, is a large beautiful art hall owned by the municipality. Härke Art Centre has a 60 square meter exhibition hall on Frösön. This latter space, with its adjacent kitchen, can also be used/rented for other activities such as courses/workshops, meetings or parties. GUEST APARTMENT
On the top floor in the Härke Art Centre building is a cozy guest apartment with three single beds and a balcony with a spectacular mountain and lake view. Internet access is available. The facility is self-service. Cleaning, sheets and towels are not provided.
